About Me

My photo
I am an artist living and working in Lancaster, PA, with my family. The Obsessive Dollhouse is a lengthy investigation into how the home can serve as a surrogate body, a creative haven and as an isolating and insulating space to keep us from feeling other's suffering. This is a self renovation blog. Through construction/ renovation and destruction, through natural and unnatural forces, this blog will document the process. In the end what will be left?

The Weirdness is Coming, but it is slow

I had visions today of a room filled with water.  A red sea up to the bed frames.  Electric lightbulbs so packed and huge that the rooms were overflowing with light.  And so many staircases leading up and out of the house.  It is so easy to get trapped in the mundane, the maintenance.  This house is not about that.  It is time to break free. Can you feel it?  The stillness and age has happened over two weeks of work.  How do you go from prefab to old plaster.  The wear in the floorboards, old windows replace the new.  But that is not the point.  We are working on something much bigger.
